How to prepare a print-ready logo file
Vector or PNG, colour codes, a single-colour version and minimum line thickness: so your print comes out right the first time.
Print quality depends heavily on the logo file. The right file speeds up the proof and makes the result sharper.
Best: a vector file
In a vector file the logo is made of lines and shapes, so it never degrades however much it is enlarged. The vector formats we accept: SVG, PDF and AI (saved PDF-compatible). Ask your designer for the logo "in vector" or "print-ready".
- Text should be converted to outlines (so the logo does not change if the font is missing).
- There should be no unnecessary empty space or hidden objects around the logo.
No vector? A high-resolution PNG
If you do not have a vector, you can upload a PNG with a transparent background. It needs enough resolution for the print size; a file at least 2000 pixels on the long side is enough for most products. Small logos saved from a website print blurry.
Colours
- If you have brand colours, share their Pantone or CMYK codes; colour matching is based on these.
- The colour you see on screen (RGB) may not print exactly the same; vivid orange, neon and green tones in particular can differ.
Single-colour version
For laser, debossing and most pad or screen printing jobs, the logo is printed in one colour. Preparing a single-colour (black or white) version of your logo improves the result a lot. White and black single-colour versions are generated automatically from the logo you upload to rixor; choose White or Black as the logo colour to see them in the mockup.
Small sizes and thin lines
On small products such as pens, the logo shrinks to a few centimetres. Very thin lines, small text and slogans are not legible at that size. For small products, a simple version with only the emblem or a short name works best.
On rixor
Upload SVG, PDF, AI or a transparent PNG to the Logos section of your account. The original file is kept for printing, and every product in the catalogue is shown with this logo. Upload your logos.
