DTF printing

Full-colour transfer for textiles: T-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags. Works on light and dark fabric, even in small runs.

Updated: 11 October 2026

DTF (direct to film) is a transfer method: the design is first printed onto a special film, then applied to the fabric with heat and pressure. Colours and a white layer behind them are printed on the film, an adhesive powder is applied and cured, and the transfer is pressed onto the garment.

Why choose it?

  • Full colour: gradients and multi-colour logos print without trouble.
  • Any fabric colour: thanks to the white underbase, colours stay vivid even on black and navy T-shirts.
  • Fabric types: works on cotton, polyester and blends.
  • Small runs: no screens or plates, so it is economical for runs of 50–100 too.

Which products?

T-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, aprons, tote bags and similar textiles. On very curved or stitched surfaces (such as the front panel of a cap) the print area may be limited.

Care

Wash inside out at 30–40 °C and do not iron directly on the print. That way the print lasts a long time without cracking.

DTF or screen printing?

If you are printing a logo with few colours in a large run, screen printing may be cheaper per unit. For multi-colour logos, small runs or mixed fabric colours, DTF is more flexible.
