Debossing and foil stamping

Ink-free debossing or gold and silver foil on leather and PU notebooks, planners and boxes: understated and elegant.

Updated: 11 October 2026

In debossing, the logo is pressed into the material with a heated metal plate, leaving a recessed mark. No ink is used; the logo reads in the material's own tone through light and shadow. In foil stamping, a gold or silver foil sits between the plate and the material, and heat and pressure transfer the foil to the surface in the shape of the logo.

Which products?

  • Leather and PU notebooks, planners and journals
  • Leather items such as card holders, wallets and pen cases
  • Paper products such as boxes and invitations

Why choose it?

  • Elegant and corporate: an understated, high-end look, especially for executive gifts.
  • Permanent: debossing does not rub off, and foil lasts a long time in normal use.

Limits

  • Single colour: debossing is in the material's tone; foil is a single foil colour.
  • Very fine details can be lost under pressure; the logo should be simple with sufficiently thick lines.
  • Plate fee: a metal plate is made once for the logo.

When debossing is selected, the mockup shows the logo ink-free with light and shadow; with gold and silver foil it shows a metallic shine.
